: Activist Madhu Kishwar on Friday alleged that there was corruption in the BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation. She accused the civic body of demanding a bribe to clear the building plan for Manushi, an NGO founded by her.

Speaking to The Hindu , Ms. Kishwar said the building plan for the 470 square metre plot in Sarita Vihar had been submitted to the SDMC two years ago.

SDMC Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel said, “Ms. Kishwar should give us a written complaint and stringent action will be taken against anyone found guilty.”

The sanction plan for a building must be uploaded onto the Corporation’s website. Officials said 90 per cent of plans are cleared within 30 days.

SDMC Chief Town Planner Shamsher Singh said Ms. Kishwar’s NGO had been allotted a piece of land by the DDA. According to the layout plan, it was meant for a school. Later, the land was divided into two and given to NGOs.
