A Head Constable allegedly shot himself with his service revolver at the Delhi Cantonment police station on Sunday night.

Pramod Kumar (46) pulled the trigger when nobody was around, said the police.

His colleagues allegedly heard the gunshot and rushed to find him lying in a pool of blood.

Suicide note

He was immediately taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Monday.

A one-page suicide note purportedly recovered from his possession said he was taking the step as he was unable to keep his family happy.

The weapon used by Mr. Kumar to commit the crime was also recovered, said the police.

A native of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Kumar joined the Delhi Police in 1995 as a constable.

He lived with his wife and two children in Najafgarh.

Probe on

His wife, too, is a Head Constable with the Delhi Police and is posted at the Moti Nagar police station.

The police are questioning Mr. Kumar’s family to ascertain what prompted him to kill himself.
