A 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a string of burglaries was arrested during routine patrolling in Uttam Nagar, the police said on Wednesday.

Akshay was apprehended by Head Constable Rakesh, who is posted at Uttam Nagar police station. Mr. Rakesh spotted six men attempting to flee after spotting him patrolling near Kheda Wala Park.

“He chased the gang and managed to catch Akshay. The accused revealed that he and his associates Kuldeep, Sanjay, Bharat, Sumit and Pandit had just robbed a house at Hastsal Vihar,” said a senior police officer.

“Further investigations are on and efforts are being made to arrest his associates and to ascertain their involvements in other cases,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-west) Shibesh Singh.
