Hundreds of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers led by its national president Amrinder Singh Raja staged a protest outside Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence on Ashoka Road on Saturday.

They burnt the effigy of the Union Home Minister and slammed the BJP Government for misusing the Delhi Police for making unnecessary enquiries on Congress national vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Mr. Raja asserted that the IYC had confirmed reports that the police visits at Mr. Gandhi’s residence, on March 2 and again on Saturday at 10-45 a.m., were made at the behest of their political bosses to harass the leader.

The Delhi Police lathi-charged and used water canons to neutralise the protestors. About 20 activists were injured and 70 others were detained at the Parliament Street Police Station.
