With the “experience of governance” and “pace of development”, the Congress is looking to be fourth time lucky in the upcoming Delhi elections, according to a three-minute campaign film that was released on Saturday. The film titled Nahin Rukegi Meri Dilli , which concludes with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit mouthing the same words, is all set to be screened in theatres and in special vans that will do the rounds in all the Assembly constituencies.
Ms. Dikshit launched the short film, which disseminates the “need to sustain the ongoing development” during the next five years, along with her Cabinet colleagues and singer Daler Mehndi. Mr. Mehndi, who is a ticket aspirant from Tilak Nagar and a new entrant to the party, has lent his vocals to the short film, the lyrics for which have been penned by Prasoon Joshi.
The visuals show Ms. Dikshit meeting people in different parts of the city, addressing rallies, and spending time with schoolchildren. It also refers to Delhi having the best airport, the largest CNG propelled public transport system, the metro network and details the achievements under the Congress rule such as “regularisation of 895 colonies”, “three times more electricity” and boasts about the Capital having the highest minimum wages and per capita income”.
“Our film has been released and will be shown in all theatres across the city,” said Ms. Dikshit, just before it was screened at the press conference. “We have invited Daler Mehndi today because he supported the film by lending his voice,” she added.
However, neither Ms. Dikshit nor any of the Congress Ministers answered any questions after the film was screened. Instead, she conveyed her Diwali greetings to all Delhiites and appealed to the citizens to avoid bursting crackers to overcome noise and air pollution.
