Congress demands FIR against Kejriwal

Delegation meets Delhi Police chief

Leaders of the Delhi Congress met Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Thursday demanding that an FIR be lodged against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his Cabinet and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)based on the issued raised in the Shunglu Committee report.

As per the report of the three-member Shunglu Committee, which was appointed by former Lieutenant-General Najeeb Jung, a range of irregularities were identified with regard to functioning of the AAP government.

Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken, who led the delegation, said that the BJP government in the Centre had deliberately failed to take action against the AAP government.

Citing the report, the Congress submitted a complaint to the police commissioner, asking for an FIR to be lodged under provisions of anti-corruption laws.

Party to move court

Mr. Maken said that if the Delhi Police did not act on the complaint, the party would move court.

He added that the Congress candidates for the municipal elections on Sunday had also filed complaints at their respective local police stations.
