Colonel’s house help commits suicide

A 19-year-old domestic help allegedly committed suicide inside the residence of a retired Army Colonel in south Delhi’s Defence Colony on Thursday, the police said adding that no suicide note has been found.

Pooja, from West Bengal, was working at retired Colonel B.S. Bhandari’s residence for the past one year, the police said. Around 2.15 p.m., she was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the basement. “Col (retd) Bhandari, his wife and their grandson were at home when the incident happened. The girl was found hanging,” said DCP (South) Romil Baaniya. Pooja’s was rushed to AIIMS, where she was declared brought dead. The post-mortem is will be conducted on Friday. “She used to visit her aunt who lived nearby,” he said adding that the aunt has not shared any suspicions. The family claims to be clueless, the police said.
