With the Capital getting reduced supply of water from Haryana for over a month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday wrote to his counterpart in that State asking for the current amount of supply to be maintained.

In a statement, the Delhi government said Mr. Kejriwal wrote to Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar urging him to ensure that Delhi’s share of water did not reduce. Mr. Kejriwal also wrote to Delhi L-G Anil Baijal asking him to intervene and raise the matter with the Centre.

Delhi had been reeling under water shortage from December 2017 due to increased pollution in the Yamuna, and from April 2, reduction in supply from Haryana, the statement said. The water supply in the Delhi sub-branch of the Yamuna and the Carrier Lined Channel or Munak Canal had reduced by 100 cusecs, the statement said. This had affected the production at Wazirabad and Chandrawal treatment plants.
