Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Monday, chaired a meeting to take stock of the flood control measures and preparedness of different agencies in the Capital.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, ministers Mr. Gopal Rai, Mr. Kapil Mishra and Mr. Asim Ahmed Khan, apart from representatives of several Departments of the Delhi government. During the meeting, Mr. Kejriwal reviewed the working of these agencies in addition to taking stock of their preparedness for the coming days.
According to a senior government official, Mr. Kejriwal suggested that all departments and agencies should respond better to complaints about water logging and other rain-related issues. However, he was happy to note that with 47 per cent rainfall having already occurred in the Capital, the situation was better as compared to the last few years.
While this meant that Delhi’s water evacuation system was working better than previous years, Mr. Kejriwal said that agencies concerned needed to focus on more ways to harvest rain water.
He also asked representatives of all agencies and departments in attendance to work in an integrated manner.
