After a video went viral in which two minors, allegedly accused of theft, were seen assaulted by unidentified men, the police registered a case under relevant Sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act and IPC on Saturday.
In the video, a group of men can be seen kicking a boy as he lay on the ground while another man hits him in the chest. Another person can be seen holding a burning cloth with which he touches the minor as he cries in pain and begs for mercy. A few metres away, another man can be seen beating another boy.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal said that the incident occurred a few days ago but they received a call from Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital on Saturday after which the case was registered. “A clip was circulated on social media. The probe has been initiated and statements of the minors will be recorded,” he said.
