A 20-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping in front of the Metro train at Ghitorni metro station on Friday. The woman was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where she was declared brought dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Shivani, a resident of Ghitorni.

Exam worries

According to the police, the girl may have decided to end her life as she thought she hadn’t done well in her ongoing board exams. “She was giving the Class XII board exams. Her father told us that she wasn’t happy with her performance and was feeling very sad the past week,” said a senior police official.

A CISF official told The Hindu that the woman reached the station at 10.20a.m. and jumped in front of the Metro that was going towards Samaypur Badli at 10.40 a.m.

The girl had her phone with her at the time of the incident, which the police used to identify the victim.

“Her body has been sent for post mortem and we’re probing other angles to identify a reason for her suicide,” said the official.
