A 13-year-old Class VIII student allegedly collapsed in his school’s washroom and was declared brought dead at a hospital in Rohini on Friday morning, the police said. A post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) S.D. Mishra said that the deceased used to attend a government school in Rohini, Sector 6.

A senior officer said that according to preliminary information, the boy had come to school in the morning and gone to the washroom. “He collapsed in the washroom. Other students tried to revive him but to no avail. The teachers were then informed who took him to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” the officer said.

The child’s family was also informed about the incident. The police were informed by the hospital around 8.30 a.m.

The deceased’s post-mortem has been conducted, said the police, adding that the boy’s family does not suspect foul play.

“We are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. We will take legal action in the case thereafter, if necessary,” said the police.

‘No disease’

“The family said the boy was not suffering from any disease and was fine when they had dropped him off at school in the morning,” the police officer added.
