CJI: empathy needed to be a good lawyer

Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar said on Saturday that an advocate who does not empathise with his or her society can never be a good lawyer.

He was speaking at the fifth annual convocation of the National Law University, Delhi. He is also Visitor of the university. He added that though India is free it is yet to taste the true glory of this freedom.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Ranbir Singh, complemented the faculty and the students for their rich academic contributions.

He said he hoped students of the university would contribute as agents of change to help the country achieve developmental goals. Twenty five gold medals and five cash prizes were awarded to the students of B.A., LLB. (Hons).
