City to face water woes

March 13, 2018 01:38 am | Updated 07:15 pm IST - New Delhi

Water supply in large parts of the city may be affected for the next few days due to shortage of raw water, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said on Monday.

In a statement, the DJB said that the water level of the Wazirabad pond had reduced to 671.3 feet, from the normal level of 674.5 feet, and that the quantity of water released by Haryana had also decreased.

The DJB said that this had led to reduced production by water treatment plants and could lead to the closure of the Chandrawal and Wazirabad plants.

“The DJB is endeavouring to rationalise the water supply. Therefore, water will be available at low pressure for coming few more days, till the situation improves,” the statement read.

West, north, central Delhi, parts of south Delhi, the Delhi Cantonment and Lutyens’ Delhi will be affected. The DJB added that water supply would be affected in Dwarka, Madhu Vihar, Rajapuri, Mahavir Enclave and Bindapur on Wednesday from 9 a.m. till midnight due to leakage in a command tank.
