The Capital experienced another cold and windy day on Tuesday with minimum temperatures settling at 3.3 degrees Celsius.
Many people stayed indoors during the first half of the day thanks to the cold winds, even though the minimum temperature was up by almost a degree from Monday.
According to the Meteorological Department, Tuesday's minimum was four degrees below normal for this time of the year and the maximum temperature was 15.5 degrees Celsius.
Fog continued to affect train movements, even though the flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport remained unaffected.
Northern Railway cancelled 13 and rescheduled over 20 trains. Around 28 trains were running late by as many as 18 hours. Among the trains rescheduled were the four Rajdhanis, Howrah-bound Duranto Express and Andhra Pradesh Express.
Cancelled trains
Cancelled trains included the Agra-bound Taj Express, Toofan Abha Express, Sitamarhi-bound Lichchavi Express and Lal Quila Express.
According to sources, the New Delhi-bound Bhuneshwar Rajdhani and Vikramshila Express were running late by as many as 14 hours till Tuesday evening. The Farakka Express and Poorva Express were running late by 15 and 17 hours respectively.
After days of fog, flight operations were normal at Delhi airport on Tuesday. The shallow fog did not affect flights as the visibility was above 100 metre. Nine flights were cancelled and 17 flights were delayed due to operational and technical reasons.
According to airport weatherman, visibility is likely to dip to between 500 metre and 200 metre during shallow fog from 1.30 a.m. to 4.30 a.m. on Thursday.
Dense fog had affected over 50 flights here on Monday. The arrival or departure of around 20 flights had to be cancelled either due to operational reasons or due to bad weather conditions.
