Fourteen child labourers, who worked at various hotels and roadside eateries, were on Tuesday rescued by the authorities here, officials said.
The Child Protection Council, Child Welfare Society, Labour Department and the police rescued the children in a joint operation. The children were living in unhygienic conditions at the hotels and roadside eateries, the officials said.
The team, led by District Child Protection Officer Megha Singla, raided six to seven roadside eateries and hotels, and rescued the children. Most of them are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Ms. Singla said the Labour Department and the Child Protection Council had received complaints in this regard. She said cases were registered against several traders and a few others were given warning.
She said the parents of the rescued children will be informed soon. For now, they have been kept in a children’s home in Ambala Cantonment.
