A picture clicked with a favourite celebrity at Madame Tussauds is a souvenir many who have visited London have come back with. Starting December 1, Delhiites will not have to travel that far for the experience as Madame Tussauds has built a home for the celebrities at the historic Regal building in Connaught Place.
The museum has a star-studded line-up of celebrities with different backgrounds from India and across the world. The attraction will feature 50 life-like figures spanning across history, sports, music, film, and politics. The Delhi museum will be the 23rd Tussauds to open in the world.
Unique experience
At the inauguration, Anshul Jain from Merlin Entertainments, which owns all the attractions worldwide, said “At Madame Tussauds, guests are in for a truly unique experience as we will transport them to the glamorous world of celebrity and fame. Guests will be encouraged to interact, perform and even reflect with our figures in unique and impressive settings within the attraction.”
Among the 50 attractions in Delhi, celebrities like Tom Cruise, Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, Madhubala and Raj Kapoor are on display and styled from looks that they sported in famous roles. The sports corner has Mary Kom, David Beckham, Milkha Singh, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar.
The history section has Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Patel, A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Narendra Modi.

A display shows visitors how a wax figure is created from conception to the finished figure. The section also features a 20-minute film where Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about his experience of getting his wax figure made.
The other Madame Tussauds museums are located in London, Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Wuhan, and Sydney among others. Madame Tussauds has been making wax figures for over 150 years and each piece takes four months, and a team of 20 dedicated artists, to create.
Over 500 precise body measurements are referenced, real head hairs are inserted one by one, and countless layers of paints and tints are applied to build up skin tones, explained representatives from Madame Tussauds. The tickets are priced at ₹960 for adults and ₹760 for children.
