Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly V. K. Malhotra has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Capital and sought immediate intervention by the Union Home Ministry to improve the situation.
Referring to recent incidents of dacoity and robbery in the city, Prof. Malhotra said a spate of killings, dacoities, thefts and snatchings have shaken the confidence of the common man in the law enforcement agency. He said that criminals were striking at will with no fear of the law. “It is because of these incidents that Delhi has come to been known as the crime capital of the country,” the senior BJP leader said.
Prof. Malhotra said a sense of fear and insecurity was prevailing among the trading community and expressed apprehension that such a scenario could have an adverse impact on the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the city.
He said his party would launch a campaign if the Centre failed to take effective steps to check crime in the Capital.
