Bus driver beaten up as passengers watch

DTC bus had brushed against a car

In another incident of road rage in the Capital, a DTC bus driver was beaten up by four men even as a group of passengers sitting in the bus quietly watched the assault in outer Delhi’s Mundka on Monday morning.

The incident happened around 5.40 a.m. near Tikri border. The driver, 53-year-old Praveen Kumar, was going from Rajghat to Bahadurgarh.

No help

The bus accidentally brushed against an MUV in which the four men were travelling. They dragged Praveen out of the bus beat him up, said the police.

“The MUV brushed past the bus and got some scratches in the process. Its four occupants came out of the car, pulled Praveen out of the bus and started abusing him. The situation worsened when they started beating him up. All this happened in the presence of a dozen passengers and the bus conductor. No one came forward to help the driver,” said a police officer.

He added that the accused drove away after thrashing Praveen.

The police said that they have registered a case under Sections 186, 353, 332 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons at the Mundka police station.
