Two days after the CBI arrested B.K. Bansal, the Director General of Corporate Affairs, his wife and daughter allegedly committed suicide at their home in East Delhi's Madhu Vihar on Tuesday afternoon.

Satyabala, 58, and her daughter, Neha, 28, committed suicide by hanging in separate rooms at their flat in Neelkanth Apartment.

They also left behind two separate suicide notes, confirmed Rishi Pal, DCP (East). Sources said the suicide note mentioned their disappointment with the bureaucrat's arrest. Police said they are yet to ascertain the authenticity of the suicide notes.

Mr. Bansal was arrested on Saturday for allegedly receiving Rs. 9 lakh as bribe for extending favours to a corporate firm. The money change hands outside a Delhi hotel, CBI had said.

“Subsequent searches at six places led to seizure of Rs. 54 lakh,” a senior officer had added. The places raided by the CBI included the Neelkanth Apartment where the two women have allegedly committed suicides.
