An enmity between neighbours turned ugly on Monday night when a family, including parents and two sons, allegedly stabbed two brothers to death in Noida Sector 49. The incident happened outside the accused’s residence.

The murders led to huge protests in the area with the family and other relatives of the victims keeping their bodies on the road and demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons.

The protests that began in the midnight continued till Tuesday morning with the protesters blocking the traffic on Sector 49-50 intersection. According to the police, the deceased – Umesh Sharma (20) and Yogesh Sharma (17) –lived barely 500 metres away from the residence of the accused – Gulshan, his brother Jitendra, their father Omkar and their mother.

One absconding

Omkar, in fact, made a PCR call and informed the police about bodies of two youths lying near his house in order to save himself from becoming the prime accused. The murder weapon is yet to be recovered by the police.

The parents of the accused were taken into custody in the small hours of Tuesday while Gulshan was arrested from Bhaghpat and Jitender is still absconding.

Police sources revealed that Gulshan allegedly had enmity with Umesh and they had had heated arguments earlier too.

“The incident took place around 9 p.m. when Umesh was called by Gulshan to his residence. An altercation broke out between Umesh and the family and the latter threatened to stab him. Umesh called his brother for help who then reached the house and became another victim for the family,” said a police officer.

“When the police reached the crime scene, the brothers had already been taken to a nearby hospital by the locals. Both of them were declared dead on arrival,” said Awneesh Kumar, a police officer.

Stabbed multiple times

Investigating officers said Umesh and Yogesh had been stabbed multiple times. “While one of them had a hole in his throat and the other one had a wound on his chest. The brothers were lean so immediate blood loss led to their death,” added the officer.

According to the victims’ family, Umesh had just come home from his computer class when he received a phone call and left. “We were informed around 9 p.m. about their bodies lying in a pool of blood next to a drain in the area. I ran to the location and saw them with stab wounds all over their body, said Ramesh, the victims’ uncle.
