An 18-year-old boy was stabbed to death while two others sustained injuries when a group of men attacked them outside his shop at Madangir in South-East Delhi here on Sunday. The police have arrested one of the accused and are now looking for the others.
Earlier this month, the deceased Shubin and one of his injured friends Shekhar had an altercation with the same group which attacked them on Sunday.
“Back then the two groups had filed complaints against each other and it was only after an intervention by their parents, the issue was settled. But it seems that the other group had held their grudge against Shubin and his friends and looking for an opportunity to settle the scores,” said a police officer.
Around 9 p.m. when Shekhar and another friend of Shubin were standing near his grocery shop which he was about to shut and go home, Pradeep along with his accomplices (numbered between 10 to 12 according to some of Shubin’s acquaintances) came near the shop and an argument ensued between the two groups which soon snowballed into an argument.
The officer said, Shubin and his friends were attacked with sharp edged weapons and wooden sticks after which Pradeep and his accomplices fled the spot. A passerby who tried to intervene was also attacked. Even as the fight was on, Pradeep allegedly stabbed Shubin on his leg after which he and his accomplices fled the scene.
All the injured victims were rushed to the nearby Max Hospital where Shubin succumbed to his injuries while others are undergoing treatment.
