July 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - CUTTACK:

At least three youth leaders of the BJP were taken into preventive custody here by the city police on Friday for showing black flags to State Employment and Technical Education & Training Minister Sanjay Dasburma.

Demonstrating against Mr Dasburma for his alleged involvement in the chit fund scam, the BJP workers had earlier threatened to protest his visit to the city.

The Minister was here to attend a function at the Bhubanananda School of Engineering on the occasion of the World Youth Skill Day.

When the Minister’s car was entering into the school campus, a group of BJP youth leaders suddenly appeared from behind a wall and waved black flags at the car and asked him to go back. Alert city police escorting the Minister overpowered the BJP leaders and snatched away the black flags from them.

City BJP Yuva Morcha chief S. R. Mitra, vice-president Asutosh Das and another youth leader Satyaban Das were taken into preventive custody and detained at the local Mangalabag police station from where they were released on PR bonds after the Minister left the city in the afternoon.
