Bidhuri denies making “30% of country’s Muslims still harbour terrorists” remark

Trying to wriggle out of a situation following his alleged statements on Muslims, Bharatiya Janata Party’s South Delhi candidate Ramesh Bidhuri on Thursday alluded to another litmus test for voters to prove their patriotism.

“The BJP will not discriminate between Hindus and Muslims provided they chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’,” he said. The covert threat also attracted laughter from party workers.

Addressing a press conference earlier, Mr. Bidhuri denied making any controversial remarks at an election meeting in Govindpuri. He clarified saying he had said that [BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra] Modiji will not stand any terrorism in the country”.

He also added that “majority of Muslims are patriotic” and denied putting a percentage figure on those he thought were unpatriotic.

Mr. Bidhuri had reportedly told voters at an election meeting earlier in the week that “30 per cent of the country’s Muslims still harbour terrorists” and Narendra Modi must be made Prime Minister so that he can “teach both Pakistan and the U.S. a lesson”.

“I did not make any such statement. All I said was that Modiji will not stand any form of terrorism when he becomes Prime Minister. My personal view is that the Ford Foundation, which is funded by the CIA, is supporting [Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind] Kejriwal so that he creates chaos in the country,” he said.

Responding to allegations made by the AAP’s South Delhi candidate that several cases of criminal intimidation were pending against him, Mr. Bidhuri said he shared the records of pending cases in his nomination papers. He also accused AAP’s candidate Colonel (retired) Devinder Sehrawat for not providing any evidence to substantiate his claims.

In a statement, the BJP candidate said Col. Sehrawat is “staring at a resounding defeat” and has hit back with “malicious allegations” since party supporters had donated Rs.5 lakh for Mr. Bidhuri’s Mahipalpur campaign.

They're basically saying become jingoistic like us or you're not Indian. I think that the
line should be drawn simply at showing respect for the Flag and Anthem, standing up
when it is right. Other than that I've never said "Bharat mata ki jai" and I'm sure that I
would be the first one to the front-lines in case of a national emergency. Chanting
slogans doesn't prove your mettle - that's just a facade to mask your impotency.

This is a typical fascist litmus test: if you don't sing my song, you
are anti-national. If you don't agree with me, you are anti-national.
Thus, when Prashant Bhushan said the Armed Forces Special Powers Act
should be repealed in J&K, BJP activists beat him up.

These are the people who want to represent you in parliament. The choice
could not be clearer.

the majority of Indian population also believe in one God (Ishwar), but at the same they worship their own Devi, Devata as God and Goddess. No problem, India is a secular big Democracy and every one can make a choice. Muslims believe in The God (Allah, Ishwar), Supreme Power, He is the one who created every thing like Sky, Land and Sea even You and me, I hope reader agrees with me till this point. Bharat is the Name of a land, it was created by God, people should not say Jai to Bharat(Mata), but to the creator of Bharat(Ultimate Power). Muslims will say Jai to Allah ( In Arabic it's equivalent to "Allahu Akbar". There should not be any compulsion, but respect, Patience and intention to understand each other.

Muslims are not the tenant of BJP. Why we should be living in India on
their terms or proving our nationalism to them. If they are real
nationalists, why they are pushing the country into riots again and
again? One riot can cause of loss lives, properties and capital hugely.
The perpetrators of such riots can never be loyal to the country. Can
they please to a common Indian that they will shun their acts of
multiple losses to the nation before putting conditions to others.

Dear All, Love of homeland is part of faith!

The mis-conception that muslims dont love their motherland was created by divisive forces slowly over these 70 years using politics of partition, hatred and hiding true history. Poverty, lack of education and lack of good leaders to legally fight such false picturization in muslims have been effectively & successfully used by their haters.

Muslim's love & sacrifices for our beloved nation is hidden by divisive forces in administration. From Muhammed Yusuf Khan to Tipu Sultan to Begum Hazrat Mahal to Bahadur Shah to Muslims in Indian freedom struggle is given NO significance in our history books.

Unless muslims take up education seriously and raise voice against wrong propaganda, it would be difficult to remove such mis-conceptions. Government's support is also required in removal of British's divide & rule history and push for introduction of true information into text books could atleast help future generations.

Dear, First of all, concept of nation (or tribes or race) should be accepted though Almighty created for recognition [Verse 49:13]. Secondly refer few hadiths quoting Prophet (pbuh) & his disciple's love for Mecca [hubb al-watan] after they moved to Medina. Ofcourse the concept of nation changed from birth place to smaller kingdoms to international boundaries today. Third, if nations are irrelevant, then why any muslim need passport & visa to move between muslim countries? Thus Nation to be believed and also loved.

The divisive forces in country over many years have inserted into minds of hindus that muslims don't love nation using poltics of partition. You seem to be one of those fell into trap and making it easy for these forces to show false picture. We followed Maulana Azad... will love and protect our beloved country. But the sad part is that they successfully misled significant hindu brothers into this wrong belief.

Dear Sir,
Bharath mata ki jai is not a religious chant, it is just a chant of 'Victory to Motherland' There are many many muslims who say that without compromising their religious principle. I don't understand what is un-islamic in that. Btw, Even Hindus don't 'worship' our Motherland as other Gods like Shiva or Vishnu. There are no temples dedicated to Bharath Mata.

Any self respecting Muslim cannot say what you want us to say. There is one God Allah and Muhammad ) is his prophet and this is what we believe. We cannot worship anything else. Why are you people hell bent on insulting and diluting our religious beliefs?

Early signs of the Hate for so called 'others' that many BJP/RSS have.
Are these the politicians we want in Parliament? Unnecessarily causing
divisions among citizens will fuel rather than reduce terrorism and is
a bigger threat than external foreign threat. Look at the state of
Pakistan with daily violence within its own sections of population.
India is the most multicultural country in the world. This is its
strength. Inclusive development across all artificial divisions of
cast, religion, sex, etc is essential for our unity and prosperity.
Careful what you vote for.

The hatred for minorities is clear. I admire this medium for exposing the communalism of the BJP which is its ideology. Newspeople like Arnab Goswami to promote Modi and it is very apparent from his one sided fake aggressiveness which simply is a dance of the brainless, he never lets any other candidate besides the BJP speak. There are a couple of more media channels which have also sold out their souls to Modi. One can visualize the actual scenario of media curfew after Modi gets power, by watching the trailers now.
