BJP wants Kejriwal to dismiss Bharti

October 02, 2014 11:27 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:47 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said the Aam Aadmi Part should take action against Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti after a charge sheet was filed against him in connection with the incidents at South Delhi’s Khirki extension. The party demanded that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal compel Mr. Bharti to resign from the Delhi Assembly or dismiss him from the party.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said that Mr. Kejriwal, who is “never tired of talking about honesty and high standard in public life”, should take action against Mr. Bharti.

“Mr. Kejriwal demands resignation from other party leaders on small issues and today when the court has framed charges against his party colleague in connection with a serious international case connected with the security of women, it is necessary that either he should compel Mr. Bharti to resign from the Assembly or dismiss him from the party,” he said.

Mr. Upadhyay said that the failure of Mr. Kejriwal to take action would indicate double standards and his disrespect for women.
