The Opposition BJP on Wednesday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government had proved to be “beyond the reach” of the common man as homeless people were dying due to “severe cold conditions under the nose of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal”.
Training his guns at Mr. Kejriwal, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari alleged that the CM “had taken an oath in the name of his children not to enjoy government accommodation, but was now sleeping without any worry in luxurious government accommodation”, even as “more homeless people died on the Capital’s streets”.
“No State in India has witnessed such an insensitive government and so shameless a Chief Minister. We cannot leave the homeless at the mercy of such a government and hence all the district presidents, MLAs, councillors and party office bearers, with the cooperation of social organisations, will go to the streets in the cold nights to help the poor and the homeless,” the north-east Delhi MP said.
Anti-Sikh riots cases
Mr. Tiwari also welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to constitute a Special Investigation Team for investigation into 186 cases related to 1984 anti-Sikh riots that were “closed without any investigation” and hoped that the victims’ families would now get justice.
“Political leaders related to Congress and some other parties who have been accused of a role in the riots will not be able to raise the bogie of political vendetta now and the investigation and prosecution will happen speedily,” he said.
