Determined to counter the high-voltage poll campaign of Janata Dal (United) and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the State BJP on Wednesday decided to press into action 160 ‘raths’ (chariots) to enable its leaders to cover all the Assembly constituencies.

There will be two types of ‘raths.’ The first one for leaders undertaking poll campaign and the second one – to be fitted with electronic gadgets — for exposing the opponents.

Party leaders, who held marathon meetings to discuss strategy, also decided to hold one lakh public meetings in the next 100 days. They accused Mr. Nitish Kumar of putting pressure on government officials not to allow the BJP to rent big hoardings in the city for publicity. Almost all the big billboards in Patna have been booked by the Janata Dal (U) projecting Mr. Nitish Kumar as the only leader who could only steer Bihar to the path of growth and development with the catch line “Phir Ek Baar, Nitish Kumar.”

“Municipal corporation and local police officials too have been instructed not to allow the BJP to put up its posters on city hoardings, but Nitish Kumar should keep in mind that every regime has its end. This time he will be dethroned,” said senior State BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi.

State party president Mangal Pandey called upon district party chiefs and leaders to focus more on social media.

Addressing party leaders, Mr. Sushil Modi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the biggest strength for party workers in the poll campaign.
