Despite the Congress having given slogans for years to remove poverty, people have remained poor, said Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party poll in-charge Nitin Gadkari on Sunday. “Despite voting for them and bringing them to power again and again, you remained poor because after coming to power, the Congress hand picks your pockets rather than helping you,” he said, speaking at the Jhuggi-Jhopri Sammelan held at the Talkatora Stadium.
Enumerating the various scams that have riddled the Congress governments, Mr. Gadkari asked people to hark back to the time when Delhi was ruled by the BJP. “If you vote us back to power those days can return back. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit says that she has developed Delhi in last 15 years but I don’t think people have really benefitted by the fruits of the so-called development,” he added.
At the function, the Delhi BJP announced that it will provide flats to every family that is living in JJ clusters in the city and said that the flats will be developed in the public private partnership model at places where these families are living at present.
“I assure you that each JJ cluster resident will be given a flat at the very place he is living when the BJP comes to power. While this may take some time to begun, I also promise that you will be given cheap electricity, dispensary, police booth, clean water at once when we come to power,” said Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel adding that the condition of city people will further improve with 30 per cent reduction in power tariffs and controlling the unabated inflation that Congress has given free reins.
