The Day Two of the Delhi Assembly session saw ruckus on Thursday as the Opposition demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government set the record straight about the delay in implementing the Jan Lokpal Bill.
‘Pending with Centre’
On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also the Minister-in-charge for the Vigilance Department, said the Bill had been passed by the Assembly and was pending with the Centre.
Accusing Mr. Sisodia of “misleading” the House, the BJP MLAs said in a letter to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel that the Bill was lying with the Delhi government since September 2017.
Demanding an “apology” from Mr. Sisodia, the Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta and Rajouri Garden MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa protested in the House, leading them to be marshalled out.
The file pertaining to the Bill, which was passed by the Assembly in December 2015, was with the office of Delhi Law Minister Kailash Gahlot, the Administrative Reforms Department had said in a May 21 reply to a Right to Information query filed by The Hindu .
