The Bharatiya Janata Party has slammed Aam Aadmi Party legislators for “taking the law into their hands” and belying the promise of providing alternative politics in the city.
Responding to reports of Mangolpuri MLA Rakhi Bidlan’s sister-in-law approaching the Rohini police station to complain against her husband, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said, “We don’t want to comment on the family matters of Ms. Bidlan. But since the matter is in the public domain, she should come clean on the issue.”
Delhi BJP general secretary Rekha Gupta alleged that the message emanating from the incident is not correct as Ms. Bidlan has been a former Women Welfare Minister in the State government. “If such incident occurred in a minister’s family, what message would go out in the city and across the country,” she said.
Underlining that the party is planning to approach the Lieutenant-Governor as the Arvind Kejriwal government is making certain “arbitrary” appointments, Mr. Upadhyay cited the example of newspaper advertisements given by the State government for appointment of members for the Delhi Dialogue Commission.
