‘BJP govt lost the trust of the people in Haryana’

Hooda slams BJP on completion of its 3 years in power

Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Haryana on completion of its three years in power in the state, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said the State government had lost the trust of the people and must declare elections to seek fresh mandate.

Anarchy in State

Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh, Mr. Hooda said that the State was pushed into anarchy three times during the three-year tenure of the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government as part of a political conspiracy and more than 70 people had lost their lives in police firing. He said that the death figures were more than the violence-torn Jammu and Kashmir and was a blot on the face of peaceful State like Haryana.

Mr. Hooda said that all sections of the society including farmers, workers, employees and traders were up in arms and the government had taken away jobs of several youths creating an “army of unemployed”. “Business and trade was destroyed due to demonetisation and GST, rendering 10 lakh people unemployed. The situation was deteriorating instead of improving with each passing day. The State government has recruited only 7,886 people, but taken away jobs of 50,000. The exams being conducted for recruitment are leaked every time,” said Mr. Hooda.

Taking a dig at the BJP government, Mr. Hooda said that the Minimum Support Price for sugarcane was increased to ₹330 per quintal when it should be ₹400 per quintal. “During our government, the MSP for sugarcane was fixed at ₹310 per quintal when the sugar was sold for ₹30 per kg. Now the sugar price has jumped to ₹42 per kg and therefore the MSP for sugarcane should be ₹400 per quintal,” said Mr. Hooda.

He alleged that the BJP government had failed to fulfil any of its 154 promises made in the manifesto. He further said that the government had assured implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report, but the farmers were forced to sell off their produce at throwaway prices.

He also accused the government of several scams such as Crop Insurance Scheme scam, Paddy Purchase Scam, Bajra Purchase Scam and Dadam mining scam.
