The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party continued its attack against the Congress Government in the Capital on Saturday, asserting that the power tariffs in the city can be brought down, but the Congress had shown no political will to do so.
Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel said: “The BJP is ready to share its power tariff reduction formula with you [Delhi Government], but is your Government ready to implement it? Why has the Chief Minister never called an all-party meeting over crucial issues like power, water and law and order situation?”
Countering the Chief Minister’s allegation that charges against her would defame Delhi, Mr. Goel said: “It is not the Opposition that has defamed anyone, but Delhi has been defamed by the poor law and order situation resulting in it bearing the tag of ‘rape capital’ and indictment of the Chief Minister and her Government by probe committees that found them guilty of corruption.”
He said: “The CM has been charged of corruption by constitutional bodies like CAG, Lokayukta, and the Shunglu Committee, which found her guilty of corruption during Commonwealth Games. The Committee was set up by the Prime Minister’s Office when her own party’s government is at the Centre,” he said.
Mr. Goel reiterated that the BJP had already set up an expert group which is ready with a specific 10 point formula for reducing existing power tariff by at least 30 per cent and another is working on a blueprint to ensure safety of citizens, especially women in the city.
