BJP, Cong gave perks to municipal leaders: AAP

June 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:09 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Aam Aadmi Party said on Friday that the BJP and the Congress had no right to question the Delhi government’s appointment of 21 Parliamentary Secretaries when they had handed out perks to office-bearers in the civic bodies.

AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Dilip K. Pandey said that the BJP and the Congress had been accusing the government of violating the office of profit rule, while they had given cars, security and staff to office-bearers in the corporations.

“The Delhi Municipal Act only permitted the provision of a car and other perks for the Mayor, but the Leaders of the House and Opposition had been given the same,” said Mr. Pandey.

“The BJP and the Congress have an understanding between each other. Their leaders in the corporations have benefitted from this for years, so they have no right to question the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries. Our 21 MLAs never availed of any perks,” said Mr. Pandey.
