Opposition BJP on Monday pilloried Nitish Kumar government for “deteriorating” law and order situation alleging that organised crime has returned to the State from the day he took the RJD’s assistance in running the government.
The issue was raised by the BJP in the State Assembly and its members trooped into well of the House shouting slogans against the government.
Due to protests Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary adjourned the House first till 12-30 p.m. and then till 2 p.m.
Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore Yadav mentioned some crime incidents and alleged that “under pressure of Lalu Prasad’s RJD, the Nitish Kumar government is handicapped in checking organised crime.”
He demanded resignation of the state government over the crime situation.
Senior Minister and JD (U) Legislature Party leader in the House Vijay Chaudhary took strong exception to the BJP disrupting the House every day.
“What kind of a democracy do you want? What kind of a tradition do you want to establish,” Mr. Chaudhary asked, while making an attack at the BJP.
Later, Mr. Yadav told reporters that since February 23 when Nitish Kumar assumed charge as Chief Minister again, around 200 incidents of crimes including murder, loot and rape have been reported.
He said since the RJD was backing the government, organised crimes from jails, which had made headlines during its rule for 15 years from 1990 to 2005, have returned to haunt the common people.
“List of people to be targeted are prepared by people from Siwan jail and given to gangsters for execution,” he claimed, indicating the return of RJD strongman and former MP Mohammad Shahbuddin on the scene.
In Munger, even Divisional Commissioner has admitted that notorious gangster Pawan Mandal was running a crime racket from behind the bars, the Opposition Leader said adding, Maoists had forcefully entered house of rebel JD(U) MLA Dinesh Prasad in Muzaffarpur yesterday and threatened his family members with dire consequences.
Mr. Yadav claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s hands were tied as he was running the government with the support of Lalu Prasad’s RJD. - PTI
