BITS Pilani holds annual convocation

BITS Pilani organised its annual convocation ceremony on Sunday, during which a total of 1,372 students received their degrees.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award ceremony was also held on the occasion. This year’s award in the category “Academic Teaching and Research” was conferred on Govindan Rangarajan, head of Interdisciplinary Research at IISc, Bangalore.

Public figures honoured

Harish Bhat, Chairman, Tata Coffee Ltd., was awarded for his contribution in the area of corporate professional management.

Raghu Rajagopal, co-founder and CEO of DATRI, a not-for-profit organisation that works for blood cancer patients, was awarded for his contribution to public life and social entrepreneurship.

The chief guest at the function was Tessy Thomas, scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
