An 18-year-old man was allegedly killed after an electric pole fell on his head in Rohini’s Bawana on Tuesday afternoon, the police said. A truck in front of him got entangled in electrical wires and hit two poles, one of which fell on Sohit.

DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said the truck driver, identified as Chander Pal (38), was arrested on the spot. The PCR received a call at 1.10 p.m. The caller told the police that Sohit was behind the speeding truck, which got entangled in the electrical wires. “Sohit sustained severe head injuries in the incident,” said Mr. Gupta.

He was taken to a hospital, which referred him to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital. Sohit succumbed to injuries a few hours later.

The locals told the police that the wires were a major problem in the area and the cause of several minor accidents. Mr. Gupta said a case on charges of causing death due to negligence has been registered and further investigation is underway.
