A large number of workers belonging to different automobile companies held a demonstration at Kamla Nehru Park here on Sunday seeking immediate resolution of their demands pending with their respective managements for long.
Addressing the gathering, All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Gurgaon general-secretary Anil Pawar said the managements were blatantly flouting labour laws and acting like dictators.
Mr. Pawar further added that no progress was made on the demand letter of the Napino Auto Union for the past 10 months due to the adamant attitude of the management.
He threatened to intensify the agitation if the workers’ demands were not met.
AITUC State president Suresh Gaur said the managements had crossed all limits and the workers were now left with no choice but to agitate. Holding placards and shouting slogans against the managements, the workers then marched to Jharsa Road and handed over a memorandum of their demands to Sub Divisional Magistrate Vivek Kalia.
Mr. Kalia, according to the AITUC office-bearers, assured the workers that he would speak to the Deputy Commissioner in this connection and constitute a committee comprising Additional Labour Commissioner Naresh Narwal to find an amicable solution to their demands.
Various workers unions, including ones from Munjal Showa, Napino Auto and Electronics and Senior India, took part in the demonstration.
