Two persons, including an auto-rickshaw driver and a 19-year-old boy, were killed in two separate incidents in the Capital in the last 24 hours.
In the first incident, a 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed allegedly by some unidentified assailants at Ambedkar Nagar BRT corridor in South Delhi on Thursday night.
The victim, identified as Avneesh Kumar, was allegedly attacked after he asked for fare for transporting the assailants and they refused to pay. “The accused stabbed the auto-rickshaw driver and left him bleeding on the spot. A passerby later spotted him lying on the road in a pool of blood and made a police control room call. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” said a police officer.
The second incident took place in Baljeet Nagar in Central Delhi on Thursday night. According to police, the victim identified as Rajkumar (19) along with his two friends was attacked by four youth near his home.
“Kumar had an altercation with one of the accused on the issue of over-taking his bike. The spat escalated and the accused called three friends to the place to attack Kumar with knife and sticks. Two of Kumar’s friends who were present on the spot managed to save themselves. However Kumar received four stab wounds in abdomen which proved fatal,” said a police officer.
A case of murder was later lodged against unknown persons and a manhunt was launched to look for the suspects. On Friday, two of the accused identified as Vishal Gurung and Ravindra Verma, both 19-year-old, were arrested from Baljeet Nagar while efforts are on to nab two others, including a juvenile.
