Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that he had asked Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s proposal for home delivery of ration, which the Cabinet cleared on Tuesday.

After their scheduled weekly meeting, Mr. Kejriwal said in a tweet: “Met Hon’ble LG. Informed him that Cabinet cleared doorstep delivery of ration yest. It is a revolutionary idea. Requested his support. Urged him to call me if he has any clarifications [sic]”.

In the run-up to the proposal being passed, the AAP government had said the bureaucracy was delaying bringing the proposal to the Cabinet.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had on March 1 questioned whether the L-G was “protecting the ration mafia”, which he said included some officials of the government.
