A small-time businessman and his employee have been arrested on charges of killing a 50-year-old woman and robbing her of jewellery and cash at Kamla Market here in the early hours of Wednesday.
The police received a call around 4-45 a.m. on Wednesday informing that a woman named Hanifa had been strangled in her house at Shakoor Ki Dandi in Kamla Market.
The police found that the house had been ransacked and cash and jewellery missing. A relative revealed that he had seen two neighbours, Mohammad Asif and Nayeem, coming out of Hanifa's house.
As they were missing, the police mounted a hunt and detained them near Hathiwala Park. During interrogation, the accused confessed to having murdered Hanifa as she had seen them stealing jewellery and cash.
