Forcing the common man to dig deeper into his pocket, Mother Dairy on Friday announced that it was revising its prices by 4 per cent in Delhi and the National Capital Region from Saturday.
Stating that the increase comes after a gap of one year, it attributed the revision to significant increases in power tariff, poly film cost, diesel cost as well as milk procurement prices.
One litre of full-cream milk (poly pack) will now cost Rs.39 instead of Rs.37, one litre of toned milk (poly pack) will cost Rs.30, a hike of one rupee. All other variants including toned-bulk-vended milk, double-toned milk and skimmed milk will also cost a rupee more per litre.
John Joseph, a resident of Mayur Vihar, expressing his dismay at the rising cost of living said: “The Government has to realise that the common man is stretched beyond his means and the constant rise in price of essential commodities has hit the family budgets very hard.”
