Six persons, including a proclaimed offender, have been arrested by the Outer Delhi Police in connection with the sensational murder of a young man in Narela here this past month.
The police received information on April 17 evening that a young man was shot in the Rajiv Colony. When the police reached the spot, they found the victim, later identified as Pradeep (25), lying in a pool of blood with several bullet injuries. He was declared brought dead at a hospital.
Pradeep was a resident of Rajiv Colony in Narela.
Taking up investigation, the Outer Delhi Police team arrested Vicky alias Kalu who purportedly confessed to his involvement in the murder and revealed the names of his accomplices. Ashwani alias Chini, who had jumped bail in 2010 in an attempt to murder case, and Dinesh alias Bhola were arrested near Samriti Van in Narela. Three of their accomplices -- Jitender alias Kankhad, Vikas alias Totla and Sachin alias Chikna -- were later arrested.
“During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had shot Pradeep to take revenge on his uncle Dharmender who had deposed against them in an attempt to murder case. The gang members are earlier involved in several cases of murder and attempt to murder. They all belong to Narela,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) B. S. Jaiswal.
The police claim to have seized three country-made pistols, a 9 mm pistol, a 7.62 pistol, and eight live cartridges from the accused.
Alleged gang leader Ashwani, whose father is a Delhi Jal Board employee, is a college dropout. He is a registered bad character of Narela. Jitender is brother of Ashwani and followed him into the world of crime. Sachin, a matriculate, was a classmate of Jitender. Vikas's elder brother is a Class IV employee in a school and his father died over ten years ago. Vicky's brothers run a meat shop. Dinesh's father is a MCD employee.
