A court here on Saturday asked the Delhi Police Special Cell to provide the National Investigation Agency samples from its Rs.6-crore fake currency haul from Dabri here in December in order to help the NIA in its probe into its recent seizure of counterfeit notes in Hyderabad.

The NIA is also investigating a possible link between the two seizures.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav directed the Special Cell to give the NIA five notes, each of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 denomination.

The NIA told the CMM that it wanted to test the paper, ink, and the printing quality of the notes seized in Delhi to identify if there were similarities with the currency seized in Hyderabad on December 7.

Mr. Yadav also asked the NIA to return the notes later to the Delhi Police along with a report on the agency's findings.

The NIA told Mr. Yadav that only 10 of the 22 suspects in its case have been arrested. Besides four persons in police custody in connection with the Dabri seizure, a fifth person arrested in the case was remanded to two days in police custody by another court here.
