Strongly protesting the affront shown to a Sikh pilot of Jet Airways by the airport officials at Milan in Italy who forced him to remove his turban for security reasons, the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) on Thursday said it has sought an appointment with the Ambassador of Italy in India and would be holding a protest march on the issue next week.

Delhi SAD (Badal) president Manjit Singh G.K. said when earlier similar disrespect had been shown to Amritinder Singh, coach of golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, his party had led a delegation to the Italian ambassador to demand that such incidents are not repeated.

“The Ambassador had stated then that the security personnel would be apprised about the sentiments of the Sikhs and such incidents would not be repeated. But now this incident involving Ravijodh Singh Dhupia, a commander of Jet Airways flight from Milan to Delhi, has happened and we plan to approach him again,” the Akali leader said.
