The Centre has asked the Delhi Police and forces in the neighbouring States to stop the Jat agitators before they reach the borders of the Capital.

The Union Home Ministry told the Delhi Police and governments of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to invoke Section 144 of the CrPC to stop the protesters, who have threatened to stage protests in Delhi, sources said.

Arrest or detain the protesters much before they enter Delhi, disallow movement of buses carrying protesters on highways and ban tractor trolley movement, an advisory issued by the Ministry said.

Situation reviewed

Senior Home Ministry officials, meanwhile, reviewed the security situation in the Capital and neighbouring States.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi took stock of the law and order situation in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Wednesday with senior police officials from the four states.

Mr. Mehrishi instructed the officials to ensure peace and prevent attempts aimed at disrupting normal life.

Samiti president Yashpal Malik had said that Jats on tractors and small vehicles, carrying ration for at least 10 days will march towards Delhi from the neighbouring States.
