A 50-year-old Army Subedar was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly molesting a student near Kota, the police said. The incident happened on a Delhi-bound train. A zero FIR has been registered, they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Parvaiz Ahmed said accused Sanjay Kumar was travelling with his wife and child at the time of the incident.

Allegation

The victim, who is in her early 20s, alleged that she and the accused boarded the train from Pune on Friday. When they reached near Kota, Kumar “touched her inappropriately”, she claimed.

The victim informed the travelling ticket examiner about the incident, who allegedly told her that action would be taken after the train reached Delhi.

When the train reached Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station around 7 a.m, the victim was escorted to the Railway Police Force and the officers lodged her complaint.

Mr. Ahmed said the zero FIR was filed under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.

“The matter will be further investigated by Kota police,” he said.
