Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals here on Wednesday announced the launch of “Apollo Knee Clinic”, a specialised centre managed by a team of medical professionals exclusively trained to treat patients suffering from moderate to severe knee pain.
Apollo Group chairman Dr. Prathap C. Reddy said: “Apollo strives to deliver the best in patient care and the launch of the clinic is another milestone in our journey towards optimum patient care. It will provide a 360-degree approach to patients right from prevention to treatment and rehabilitation.’
The clinic will function on a protocol-driven approach ensuring prevention and early diagnosis, followed by effective treatment through a complete disease management programme. The unit has a dedicated operation theatre and a physiotherapy department for post-operative rehabilitation.
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals managing director Jaideep Gupta said: “The Apollo knee clinic will provide a one-stop solution. The unit has been equipped with state-of-the-art surgical facilities. The facilities will be at par with the world’s best knee care institutes.”
It is estimated that more than four million people above 60 years and more than six million across all age groups need help for knee disorders. Knee pain is one of the most common problems many face daily. The most common causes of chronic knee pain and disability are arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Sports-related injuries are another major cause of knee pain among the young. Such injuries require expert medical intervention and post-treatment rehabilitation.
