Anti-encroachment drive in Gurugram

MCG to start operation on April 27

A month after a drive was conducted against unauthorised parking and encroachment on the Mehrauli-Gurugram (MG) Road, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and other agencies plan to carry out a similar drive on Sohna Road soon.

MCG Commissioner V. Umashankar said that a joint drive would be carried out along with the Haryana Urban Development Authority, the Department of Town and Country Planning and the Gurugram Police on Sohna Road on April 27.

Mr. Umashankar added that illegal parking and encroachment on Sohna Road, one of the busiest roads here, caused traffic jams and other problems that caused inconvenience to motorists, while encroachment by vendors created problems for pedestrians.

Challans to vehicles

He said that challans would be issued to vehicles parked illegally on the road, while encroachments would be removed.

In a meeting last month, the local administration had decided to adopt a policy of zero tolerance for illegal parking and encroachment. Additional Municipal Commissioner Rohit Yadav is the nodal officer for the drives.
