Was associated with a casino owned by former Haryana Minister

Ankita, whose name figured in the suicide note of former MDLR flight attendant Geetika Sharma who hanged herself at her residence earlier this month, is learnt to have approached the police to record her version of the story after her name crop-ped up during investigations.

However, the police said Ankita is yet to return to India from Singapore.

Ankita was associated with a casino in Goa owned by former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, currently in police custody after he was accused of abetting Geetika’s suicide. Geetika too was working at the casino during the same time.

Mr. Kanda would be produced before a court on Tuesday when his custody, last extended for three days on Saturday, gets over. The police were tight-lipped about whether they would seek an extension of Mr. Kanda’s custody. The police said that there was no need to confront Mr. Kanda with Aruna Chadha, a co-accused in the case.

Raids were conducted at different locations in Gurgaon and Sirsa in Haryana on Sunday and Monday. The locations included Mr. Kanda’s houses at both the places, his farmhouse in Sirsa and the MDLR office in Gurgaon. The police claimed that they have gathered more evidence to implicate the former minister after his custody was extended.

On Varun, a friend of Geetika, whose name had featured in some media reports, the police said there was no need to question him as there was no evidence connecting him to the suicide case.
