Anarchy, jungle raj: BJP, Congress

June 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:28 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Opposition parties hit out against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Saturday, accusing it of lacking respect for the rule of law on a day that one of its MLAs was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman.

Reacting to the arrest, Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s defence of Mr. Mohaniya showed that the AAP had “little respect for women”.

The CM, in his defence of the MLA, had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had declared an Emergency in Delhi.

“The arrest being compared to the Emergency shows that the AAP has lost its mental balance. By not acting against the MLA, the AAP has proved it has no faith in the law,” said Mr. Gupta.

“The AAP’s anarchic character is out in the open,” added Mr. Gupta.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Congress head Ajay Maken blamed both the AAP and the BJP governments for the “complete jungle raj in Delhi”.
